Most Common Dental Problems 
In this Blog I will share on most common Dental problem which i had seen, with my experience of working in Government Hospital, Private Hospital & Clinics as Dentist.

  • Tooth Caries or Decay
  • Bad Breath
  • Gum Problem, Bleeding Gum or Gingivitis & Periodontist
  • Tooth Attrition, Erosion, Abrasion
  • Mouth Ulcer 
  • Oral Cancer

Tooth Caries: Tooth Caries or Decay, also known as cavities on tooth, is the most common disease which i had seen in my daily practice. Tooth decay occurs when plaque, the sticky substance that forms on teeth. The sugars and/or starches of the food we eat with the help of microorganism, this combination produces forms acids that attack tooth enamel causes Tooth Caries. The most common bacteria associated with dental Caries are the mutans streptococci & other Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus, and lactobacilli.

Stages of Tooth Caries 

 Brush carefully twice daily, floss thoroughly and try to cut down on sugary foods & plaque. Initially its asymptomatic, later slowly when caries spreads then it can causes Sensitivity, later pain & Spreads Infection. So if you are suffering by caries then visit immediately Dentist, treatment option is there.

Bad Breath: Bad breath, also called Halitosis, can be socially very embarrassing. According to dental studies, about 85 percent of people with persistent bad breath have a dental problem.
Gum disease, Caries,Ulcer, Oral Cancer, dry mouth, and bacteria on the tongue are some of the dental problems that can cause bad breath. Using mouthwash to cover up bad breath & solve your dental problem.

Bad breath can also be because of disease of nose and throat or food habit or some medicine. Other cause can be for some cancers, and conditions such as metabolic disorders, can cause a distinctive breath odor as a result of chemicals they produce. Chronic reflux of stomach acids (gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD) can be associated with bad breath.


 Gum Problem, Bleeding Gum or Gingivitis & Periodontist: Gum disease, also known as Gingivitis & Periodontist, is an infection of the gums that surrounding the teeth. Dental plaque & Calculus causes Gum problem. It is also one of the main causes of Bleeding gum & tooth loss among adults. The symptoms include bad breath, red, swollen, bleeding gums,tender, sensitive teeth, painful chewing & loss teeth. There are two major stages of gum disease: Gingivitis and Periodontitis.Poor oral hygiene causes gum disease. Every 6month visit Dentist for scaling treatment,for prevention of gum problem.

  Tooth Attrition, Erosion, Abrasion: 

Tooth attrition commonly seen because of trauma to tooth, tooth malocclusion,tooth grinding or bruxism. Tooth Attrition, Erosion, Abrasion can also causes for hard brush,wrong tooth paste or chemical, microorganism. Tooth Attrition, Erosion, Abrasion initially causes tooth sensitivity later can cause teeth pain. Visit Dentist if you are facing this problem. Charcoal can cause tooth abrasion or erosion, don't use this to clean tooth.

  Mouth Ulcer: Acute ulcer usually harmless but they’re a real pain and can make eating, and even speaking, a painful or uncomfortable experience. More often than not an ulcer is caused by damage to the mouth. For example if you accidentally bite,malocclusion or any trauma. Stress ulcer is commonly seen for any mental stress. Vitamin deficiency also can cause ulcer. If ulcer is for long time,Chronic then don't neglect, it can be Cancer.

Oral Cancer:  Oral cancer is a serious and deadly disease that affects millions of people. It is often curable if diagnosed and treated in the early stages. At early stages, it can be unnoticed. It can be painless with slight physical changes. But the precursor tissue changes, can be noticed by the doctors. Tobacco can cause cancer. Risk factors is Alcohol,Human papillomavirus, Ultraviolet exposure on the lips, genetic.

Prevention:
  • Stick to gentle, twice-daily brushing with a soft/medium bristle or electric brush 
  • Use proper tooth brush & tooth paste. Don't use Charcoal this to clean tooth.
  • Clean your tongue with tongue cleaner.
  • Rinse water  after every food with sometime use Chlorhexidine mouthwash.
  • Floss once daily & you can massage gum with your finger.
  • Chewing habit of hard & fibrous food is a good habit, don't take always soft or liquid food.
  • Clean nicely after taking smelly food like onion, ginger, egg,meat etc. 
  • Take balanced diet & vegetables. proper nutrition needed.
  • Avoid Tobacco, Alcohol
  • If you are having malocclusion then get the treatment.For bruxism Night guard you can use.
  • Also be sure to schedule regular dentist visits for plaque and tartar removal. Every 6 month visit Dentist for scaling treatment,for prevention of dental & general health problems.
